Mammals Of course I’ve dedicated and extra gallery to the bears, because I have a special affinity for them. Everyone has their special favourites! Ask a nature photographer who is headed for Africa what he wants to see and he will certainly say “The Big Five”, animals that were the object of big game hunters of days of yore: the African elephant, the white rhinoceros, the African buffalo and or course, lion and leopard. The fantastic African landscapes? Pure background. Or the incredible world of birds? East Africa has around a thousand more varieties of birds than Europe and that could keep a photographer that specializes in birds busy for the rest of his life. Strangely enough, this wonderful world of birds is rarely the exclusive goal of these photographers. And to be honest, the big cats fascinate me as well.
